World Hypertension Day falls on 17th May every year, “know your numbers” is the theme this year which focuses on checking blood pressure regularly. Normal blood pressure levels range between 120/80 to 140/90. If you are above the age of 18, you must check your blood pressure regularly (at least once in 2 months). Hypertension day is observed to raise awareness about high blood pressure, and aims to encourage people to take preventive measures against this lifestyle disease.

To support this day, Metro Hospital Faridabad offered healthy heart package @ INR 500 only with free cardiology and physician consultation. Additionally patients can avail 25% discount on cardiology OPD consultation and investigations from 17th May 2019 to 31st May 2019.

High blood pressure or Hypertension is a condition in which the arterial blood pressure rises higher than the normal levels. Symptoms of blood pressure are not specific, some of them may include headache, shortness of breath, dizziness and palpitation. Dr. Neeraj Jain, Sr. Interventional Cardiologist & Medical Director of the hospital said when high blood pressure goes untreated it damages arteries and organs throughout the body. That is why it is often called ‘the silent killer’, so regular monitoring is extremely important.

Dr. Neeraj Jain (Medical Director & Sr. Interventional Cardiologist) of the hospital said, “Hypertension poses biggest risk for developing cardio-vascular diseases and brain stroke. With high flow of blood, it causes tension in blood vessels which over the time weaken and become narrow, which may result in blood clotting. If one is susceptible to hypertension, then it is important to consult a doctor.” He further added that causes of high blood pressure in most people remains unclear; a variety of conditions – such as doing no exercise, high salt diet, obesity, old age and genetics–can lead to hypertension. Disease of kidney, aorta and adrenals can also cause high BP.
