Future Care Conference 2018: A special talk on “How do I know my heart is OK?

Padma Vibhushan & Dr. B C Roy National Awardee, Dr. Purshotam Lal, Director – Cardiology & Chairman, Metro Group of Hospitals, delivered a special address on “How do I know my heart is OK?” in Future Care Conference 2018 held at India Habitat Centre, on May 5, 2018 organized by India Virtual Hospital (IVH).

Dr. Purshotam Lal appraised the gathering with important factors contributing towards the development of Coronary Arteries Diseases (CAD). He particularly laid emphasis on the deposit of calcium in the coronary arteries and such calcified arteries are difficult to operate with bypass surgery or balloon angioplasty with stenting. He said we are getting more and more patients mostly elderly patients suffering from intractable angina because of calcified arteries where the patients are actually not fit for the bypass surgery.  

Such cases are performed with the help of Rotablator (diamond drilling). He demonstrated the use of the Rotablator which he has been doing since last 28 years in India. The Rotablation (diamond drilling) was introduced by Dr. Purshotam Lal in 1991.
