The Department of Transfusion Medicine (Blood Bank) is committed to provide high quality services by assuring the supply of safe and quality blood and its products to the patients.
The department is headed by SAG level officer trained in transfusion technology and have adequate and qualified nursing and technical staff. The blood bank adopts most modern technology and equipment. We have fully automatic ELISA processor, blood grouping and cross matching and blood component equipments. All the records and standard operative procedures (SOPs) are maintained and followed as per National and International standards.
Our blood bank is licensed by Drug Controller Authority, UP.
FACILITIES AVAILABLE
COM.TEC is blood cell separator representing a state-of-the-art apheresis technology for effective product. In this procedure specific type of blood component is taken from donor (Platelets / Plasma) and other components are returned back in to the body by a closed system.
- Fully automated blood screening : VITROS ECI
An Immunoassay based detection of HIV, Hepatitis B, C and HCV is done by latest generation assay to reduce window period of diseases. To reduce the transmission risk through contaminated blood or plasma serum, this 3D robotic sample handler with key assay performance uses flexible chemiluminiscence technology for antigen-antibody reaction detection. This advanced machine generates the output of upto 100 tests/hour.
Using gel card / microbeads latest technique for accurate cross matching & blood grouping
OUR INFRASTRUCTURE
We have all high-end equipments required for blood collection, donation and transfusion procedures that have been selected with an objective to provide the safest possible specific blood and blood components within the shortest possible time to the patients & state-of-the-art apheresis technology for plateletpheresis and other apheresis procedures to meet the demand of the oncology, neurology and other critically ill patients.
Donation Room is equipped with all the modern amenities for comfortable donations.
Managed by the most experienced team of highly specialized staff for blood grouping & cross matching with state-of-the-art analyzers, which are fully integrated with the Laboratory Information System (LIS) providing for quality results.
Some infections like HIV, Hepatitis, Malaria, Syphilis can be transmitted to patient through blood. Hence after collection every donor’s blood is tested for transfusion transmitted infections (TTI). It is only after this testing blood can be used for patient. This avoids spread of these infections.
Quality is checked for all components prepared to ensure good quality blood to be given to needy patients.
OUR SERVICES
The most common type of donation, in the form of 'whole blood' is taken. The blood is separated into transfusable components – red cells, plasma and platelets. This type of blood donation usually takes about 8-10 minutes..
If a patient needs blood, there are multiple types of blood replacements available. A physician will make the choice of what type of blood replacement will be given.
Liquid portion of the blood is frozen & preserve to be used for blood transfusion
Platelets from different donors are consolidated to meet the requirement of patient's (pooled platelets)
- Single Donor Platelets (Platelet pheresis/Jumbo pack)
Platelets are obtained from the donor by apheresis process in a safe & controlled system.
Liquid in the blood (Plasma) is separated from the cells using latest techniques
