World Hand Hygiene Day
This occasion
was conducted into two phases:
a) General public education
b) Employee awareness for both patient and social welfare

Roy National Awardee Dr. Purshotam Lal, Chairman Metro Group of Hospitals
conveyed his message on this occasion and laid emphasis on the importance of
hand hygiene. Dr. Gitali Bhagwati, Consultant – Microbiology demonstrated the
seven steps of hand wash and self-protection and explained the importance of
hand hygiene in personal and patient care.
Dr. Manish Bhushan Pandey,
Centre Head and renowned Radiation Oncologist graced the event by adding a
valuable message underlying the need and importance of maintain good hand
hygiene levels.

Insight
Keeping
hands clean help avoid getting sick and spreading germs. Not washing hands and keeping
them unhygienic aggravate many diseases and conditions.
You should wash hands: before and after preparing and eating food, before
and after caring sick person, after using toilet, after changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the
toilet, after touching animals, after touching garbage, etc.
The hands should be washed in the following way:
Wet your hands with clean and apply soap.
Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap.
Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.
Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
