
Metro Center for Liver and Digestive Diseases was set up to fulfilling the
long felt need of quality medical care for disorders of the liver and
digestive tract. The center provides high quality tertiary level services in
gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery. Such services were so far
provided only in a handful of India's premier government institutions.
The highly qualified team of doctors is supported by state of the art
equipment such as video endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery, and a well equipped
ICU and operation theater with an image intensifier. Emergency and elective
treatment can now be provided for a wide range of liver and digestive
disorders from the simplest to the most complex.

Dr.
B.N. Tandon, MD, FNA, FAMS, FIAP, FIAPSM, FIPHA, Chairman, and
Gastroenterologist.
Prof. Tandon graduated from KGMC, Lucknow, and specialized in
Gastroenterology from the Harvard Medical School, Boston and MIT Cambridge,
USA. He was the Dean and Head, Department of Gastroenterology at the All
India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi. He developed the department
at AIIMS and established Gestroenterology as a specialty in India. He has
published over 225 papers, authored 13 monographs and 13 chapters in various
textbooks. Major awards include the Padma Bhushan (1986), Sasakawa WHO
Health price (1990) and the Jubilee Medal from the Presidium of the Russian
Academy of Medical Science Academy, National Academy of Medical Sciences,
Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Indian Association of Preventive and Social
Medicine and the Indian Public Health Association. Earlier he has been
President of the International Association for the Study of the Liver, Asia
Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver, Indian Association of
Gastroenterology and Nutrition Society of India, and Vice President of the
World Association of Gastroenterology. Presently Prof. Tandon is the
Chairperson of the Digestive Diseases Foundation of India.
